Ride out over the beautiful ancient hunting grounds of the New Forest on a 90-minute private hack in traditional English saddle, led by an experienced guide, and enjoy a night’s accommodation, dinner and breakfast in the Georgian coastal town of Lymington on the southern edge of the forest the evening before. Make your way to Burley Villa School of Riding, eight miles away, where your trusted steed will be waiting for you. You’ll be given a riding hat to put on and then your guide will take you through a safety briefing, before giving you a quick lesson that covers all the basics. Once you are comfortable, confident and in control of your mount, you can spend the rest of the session exploring the wilds of the New Forest.
Your guide will take you across heathland, through leafy glades and peaceful woodlands at a pace to match your competency. Along the way you are likely to see wild New Forest ponies and may come across cattle and deer that roam freely in the forest.
When you return to the stables, refreshed and energised by your outing, you can enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks before heading home again — or head back to The Mayflower for a soak in a roll-top tub if you’ve booked an additional night with us.
