Enjoy a day for two Rods on a beautiful private beat on the Test, the legendary river that was the birthplace of flyfishing. This experience includes a gourmet riverside picnic and a one-night stay for two people at a rustic Hampshire inn, plus a delicious dinner (you can even ask for your catch to be cooked!) and a sumptuous breakfast the next morning. Make your way to the Fullerton or Wherwell beats, both premium trout fishing stretches of the River Test, where you and your fishing buddy will have the bank to yourselves. The river is at its widest here and the majestic water is joined by several tributaries. It is carefully managed by a full-time riverkeeper and holds brown trout and grayling. You’ll be left to your own devices, so you can while away the hours doing what you love best in one of the most exclusive and sought-after chalkstreams in the world.
Alternatively, book a guide (at an extra cost) who will be collect you from the inn at 10am and take you to the river. Your guide will provide everything you need for a day on the river including premium Sage rods, Hardy reels and flies. Famous Fishing’s experienced guides all have the Game Angling Instructors Association level 2 and are as happy teaching novices as they are coaching experienced anglers in advanced techniques. Your guide will be on hand all day to help tie flies, show you the best place to cast and improve your skills.
Lunch is a delicious gourmet picnic on the river bank. Treats include cold meats, artisan cheeses, olives, breads and locally sourced hot smoked Charlie’s Trout, paired with a bottle of wine.
